Wow!

I was just griping to my wife that we can't go to the cochon de lait fest this weekend down at Mansura (just past Marksville): http://cochondelaitfestival.com/

This is going to be a great alternative. I love that we're getting some crawfish alternatives in town!

Looks great. I'm planning on this one...

Brings back a memory:
Last year (with HJ) we played one of these in LR and about 2000 people showed up to eat. It was to benefit the Humane Society, though, which I found a bit strange while listening to all those crustaceans squeal for their lives.

Seriously, looking forward to this one.

Everyday after school I would grab some bacon from the frige, find a stick, tie a horseshoe nail to some string and wrap it around my makeshift stick pole, then head down to our "Crawdad hole" in the front yard and pull up some ol' blood pinchers. After catching a few and placing them in there holding cell (a few of my mom's kitchen bowls) I would have gladiator matches on our dirtroad driveway. The winner would then enjoy a serenade of victory from myself and be released to battle another day.

20 years later I look forward to revisting the serenade of the victorious Craw although as Jimmy stated, "their fate is much worse than losing a flimsy antenna or an arm". And after a few months of changing diapers and serenading Fiona with "Row row your boat" and "Itsy Bitsy Spider" I can't wait to get back on stage with Ida Myrtis.

We pulled blood pinchers from the drainage ditch in front of Texarkana College. I also drank from that ditch more than once, swam in it during rain storms and pulled a Caeasar's-Palace-style Evil Knevil there with a 10-speed -- this resulted in 74 stitches inside my mouth.

None of this, though, will have any effect on my decision to be at the Ice House for this :peace:

I can relate to swimming in a flooded ditch. That is basically what forms our crawdad hole. One day school was cancelled due to too much rain (only in Simms) and we spent the whole day swimming in the crawdad hole. As a young boy the size of the water hole was equal to that of a small swimming pool. Now, when I visit my parents I don't think I could even drown in it.
